You didn't think the day you got engaged you'd begin the day in what seemed to be a storage closet with a bathroom. However, that is exactly how the most perfect Christmas Day began for us. We woke up and got ready to go to Christmas Day mass. If you've ever attended a mass or church service with a wiggy, talkative, hungry 9 month old you know how it ended up. Shortly after service had began Brooklyn and I went in search of the cry room. We found what was told to be the cry room that was filled with rows of old school red fabric chairs with the plastic covered metal arms. As we walked in I realized that it was just a storage room with the rows of chairs to be facing a bathroom. Joel came and found us and we had a great laugh about a wonderful Christmas memory being made. After mass was over, we stopped at Starbucks on our way home to enjoy our first Christmas morning with Brooklyn. Once we got home we all began tearing into our Christmas presents. After what I thought was all the presents were opened I sat on the floor to begin opening some of Brooklyn's new toys. As I was trying to open her new activity wooden block center (Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!) Joel's brother, Javier, said "Joel you forgot one gift! It's Kristen's" and placed a bag with a penguin on the floor in front of me. I was so confused as it didn't actually have a name on the bag and pulled out the tissue paper in full confusion. Underneath the white tissue paper was the a wooden box. When I opened the beautiful wooden box I saw a bright light reflecting off the most perfect empty box. I was confused when it was empty so I stood up and turned around only to find Joel on his knee holding the sparkly stunning ring in his hand.
