Providence is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. It is a beautiful city with lots of history! We recommend strolling down Wickenden Street, or checking out Wayland Square and the Brown University campus. The Providence Children’s museum is also great for kids in the city. Our favorite restaurants include Al Forno (yes it lives up to the hype), Los Andes, and the Iconic Olneyville NY System for an authentic RI classic hot Weiner. Also we’d suggest a trip to Federal Hill (Atwells Ave), Providence’s own little Italy where the famous podcast “Crimetown” was based. For grab & go in the city, we suggest Cassertas Pizza, Pizza Marvin, or Venda Ravioli.
Drinks: Jefferson Speakeasy- great cocktails! Located across the street from the hotel. Proclamation Ale Company- Good selection of beer and food trucks. Food: Warwick-Iggy’s in Oakland Beach (take-out, or sit down at the Boardwalk) has great clam cakes & chowder, and lobster rolls. Del’s frozen lemonade on Warwick Ave is a great RI tradition. Crow’s Nest is a waterfront restaurant known for its fresh oysters and seafood dishes. The Tree House Tavern & Bistro is a beautiful rustic farmhouse with great ambiance and seasonal dishes. East Greenwich-Main Street in East Greenwich has a few cute shops, and great restaurants for lunch or for dinner including Rasa (Indian). Main Street Coffee also has great espresso martinis. Blu On The Water is also a good spot for seafood, live music, and waterfront views. Meritage and Siena are Morelli family favorites for dinner.
If you’re up for a drive, Newport and Narragansett are both beautiful spots in the state and only about 30 minutes away. Newport has a ton of great shopping, amazing restaurants, and historic sites. You can take a tour of the historic Newport mansions or walk along the rocky cliffs at Sachuest Point. The Cliff Walk is a beautiful long walk right along the coastline. Our favorite restaurants in Newport are Barcino, Pasta Beach, and The Mooring. If you’re wanting to check out the beach, Second Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Rhode Island. Follow a beach day up with homemade ice cream from Clementines. In Narragansett, Narragansett Town Beach is a go-to. For dinner near the beach, you can't go wrong with the Coast Guard House or Monahan’s, followed by Brickley’s Ice Cream. A warning – be careful of beach traffic to/from these locations in the Summer!
