Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kristen Malinak and Hank Blodgett
Washington, DC and the gorgeous area surrounding our venue are chock full of fun things to do while you're in town. Please take advantage of what the DMV has to offer! See below for some ideas, and let us know if you have any specific interests and we can point you in the right direction.

FREE in DC

There are tons of free things to do in DC, check out this link to see!

DMV Hikes

Check out this link for a list of local hikes. The couple's favorites include Rock Creek Park, the Billy Goat Trail, and the C&O Canal Towpath. Using the AllTrails app is also a great way to see local options.

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

Georgetown is Kristen and Hank's favorite neighborhood to visit in DC. They took their engagement photos there with Pablo at 6am, and Hank miraculously kept a smile on his face the whole time. Come to Georgetown for bougie shopping, tasty food, quaint architecture and waterfront views.

Capital Bikeshare

Washington, DC 20037

Weather permitting, we recommend renting bikes using Capital Bikeshare to explore all of the amazing monuments, museums, and parks that DC has to offer. Capital Bikes are located in more than 300 locations throughout the city, and there are spots to rent them all over downtown.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (202) 633-1000

Washington DC is not only known for its collection of controversial politicians but also its bevy of wonderful and usually free museums. Kristen's favorite is the Natural History Museum. She loves the elephant in the lobby, and the beautiful gemstones in its gallery.

Bethesda Row: Shopping and Exercise

4827 Bethesda Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814

Take a quick metro ride over to the Bethesda metro station and explore classic downtown Bethesda and Chevy Chase. This area has a ton of shops, restaurants, and also some exercise spots for those interested in SoulCycle, CorePower, and similar.

Pike and Rose: Right Near the Hotel

11580 Old Georgetown Rd, North Bethesda, MD 20852

If you're interested in sticking near the hotel, the Pike and Rose area is a brand new mecca of shopping, dining and bars. Also has a wonderful outdoor grassy area to hang out in!

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 332-3333

Amazing spot for brunch, lunch or dinner. Most DC locals are obsessed with this place. Kristen coughed up a good part of her intern salary to go here when living in Tenleytown in 2018!

Purple Patch

3155 Mount Pleasant Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20010
, (202) 299-0022

Kristen and Hank stumbled upon this American Filipino restaurant when walking from the Smithsonian Zoo back to Kristen's apartment in July 2018. Try anything with ube in it!

Bread Furst

4434 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008
, (202) 765-1200

Kristen would stop by this bakery when living in the Van Ness area of DC for amazing coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Try walking around the nearby suburbs for a glimpse of historic and gorgeous mid-Atlantic homes and greenery.

Farmers Fishers Bakers

3000 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007
, (202) 298-8783

Their all-you-can-eat brunch is incredible! Google "Georgetown walking tour" while chowing down, and start your tour from the Georgetown waterfront.

Milk Bar Logan Circle Flagship

1525 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005
, (202) 506-1357

Hank and Kristen visited this spot on one of their first dates while Kristen lived in DC. Try the cornflake-based desserts, you won't regret it.

Georgetown Cupcake

4834 Bethesda Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814
, (301) 907-8900

This uber famous cupcake shop has many locations but the Bethesda one is closest to our hotel! Get ready for a sugar high.
