Newark is the closest airport for driving and simplest public transportation with a direct NJ Transit train from the airport to Princeton Junction (and a brief connecting train to Princeton's campus).

PHL is also about an hour away from Princeton, though the trip requires several different trains through Philadelphia 30th Street Station and Trenton if you are taking public transit.
