Kristen and Conner met in April 2016 at Boston College, in the permanently temporary on campus housing the “mods,” where Conner and his roommates proudly called home. Kristen was a sophomore and Conner was a senior just weeks away from graduating when their paths crossed at a “post game.” While their conversation started with small talk they quickly realized they had a lot in common, most importantly that they both had race walked in high school. The last few weeks of Conner’s senior year flew by as they got to know each other, and before they knew it, they were saying goodbye and honestly not sure if their paths would cross again. But luckily Conner was moving to New York City and Kristen was spending the summer home on Long Island. That summer was filled with weekend visits between the city and Long Island. By the fall, despite the distance between New York and Boston, Conner had become a regular on the Greyhound and Chinatown buses, making biweekly trips north to see Kristen. Between long bus rides, FaceTime calls, and long-awaited weekends together, their relationship grew stronger with every mile in between. In the summer of 2021, they finally moved in together, along with their cat, Truffles, who was later joined by her new sister, Bodega. Over the next few years, they made it through the challenges of Conner’s master’s program and Kristen’s never ending four years of dental school. Life together has been full of (mostly) friendly competition, new restaurants, lazy weekends on the couch, and, as their wedding venue might suggest, plenty of wine. Conner and Kristen returned to Boston for a weekend trip for what Kristen thought was a family Easter trip. It was also their nine year anniversary, so they decided to walk around Boston College, since they were “in the neighborhood.” Conner surprised Kristen with a proposal in front of their favorite building, where she obviously said yes. Then they joined their families (who arrived a day earlier than Kristen expected) to celebrate at their favorite hotel and restaurant. After nearly a decade of adventures, bus rides, cats, and love, Kristen and Conner can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter surrounded by all the people who’ve been part of their story.
