Colin learned about Kristen and her love for tacos in her Twitter intro email. As a burrito enthusiast, he was intrigued. After an aimless year, Colin agreed to hang with Kristen at a Brooklyn party. Colin flaked and almost forever ruined his chances with her. Fortunately, Kristen soon hosted a MoPub event, MXS. After riveting fireside chats and forced meetings, the team did what it does best: schmooze and drink expensive booze. Colin and Kristen talked at the afterparty and (along with 2 clients) left for 7B, one of Colin's East Village haunts. After the clients left, Colin and Kristen had their 1st kiss. Colin knew he was an idiot for previously bailing on Kristen. The next months, he fell deeply in love and knew she was the one. Despite having a "secret" work romance, they traveled across continents, hung out with rad people, and searched for the perfect taco. Kristen was the best thing that ever happened to Colin. Colin loves messing with Kristen, so he waited until he was a poor startup dude 3 years later to propose. Marrying Kristen was a no-brainer, but, proposing was daunting. She's an events expert and sniffs out suspicious activity. Colin lacks creativity and struggles to pull off surprises. After months of planning, he picked the roof of their Gowanus apartment to propose. It had an unobstructed view of the city where they met and call home. The biggest issue was getting Kristen to the roof without suspicion. Before a Christmas tree shopping date, Colin told Kristen a doorman said there were free trees on the roof. After the longest 3-floor elevator ride, Colin was on the roof with Kristen as she looked confused. "We're not going tree shopping tonight," Colin said. He then kneeled and asked her to marry him. Colin convinced Kristen to grab a celebratory drink at a local bar. She was surprised by her closest group of friends, and then double surprised by her parents! Engagement day turned out perfectly, except they still didn't have a tree.
After months of eating lunch in the Twitter commons across from Colin, Kristen realized she was intrigued by this very smart, quietly hilarious, underground minimal Brooklyn loving introvert. After months of poking, prodding, and initiating conversations about Mexican food, he finally gave her the attention she deserved at the afterparty for one of Kristen's client events in NYC #MXS2016. Since the evening of October 25th, 2016 at 7B in the East Village, Kristen and Colin have shared so many epic adventures. These include a (not-so) secret office romance at Twitter, answering the 36 questions that lead to love (NYTimes) from multiple timezones and actually falling in love, arguing about mobile app advertising strategies, visiting countries like Cuba, Vietnam, Croatia, and Morocco, running a half marathon, migrating to Brooklyn, making big career moves (Colin, CEO & Founder, Arlene), road tripping across the country, and learning how to be dog parents together. On December 6, 2019 Colin asked Kristen to look for a free Christmas tree on the roof of their Gowanus apartment building (huh?) No tree was located but Colin did do a quick lunge while asking Kristen to marry him. She happily accepted (while wondering when they would have time to get a Christmas tree now). Shocked, overwhelmed, and soo excited, the surprises kept coming when he led her to a local bar where friends and her parents (!) we're waiting to celebrate. It was truly one of the best nights of Kristen's life - Colin flexed his event planning skills hard, solidifying that he is truly the one for Kristen.
