There are numerous trails to explore. You can even stop in for lunch at the Mountain Taproom at the Skyland restaurant overlooking the valley. The closest entrance is the Front Royal Entrance. Why not explore the Virginia underground? The Luray caverns were formed from limestone over millions of years and are a wonderful experience for anyone interested in cave exploration.
Did you know Cotoctin Creek is the first legal distillery to be opened in Loudoun County since prohibition? Why not end your day with a complitmentary tour and tasting of Virginia's most awarded spirits?

For those who have set aside a longer stay you can't miss the Smithsonian museums. Most of these museums are located on the National Mall within walking distance of each other and all are free to the public. Please ask us about our favorites and our suggestions for avoiding any possible lines.
For an "out of this world" experience you can visit a very close-by branch of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum at the Udvar-Hazy Center. Here you get to experience the Space Shuttle Discovery as well as thousands of aviation and space artifacts.
Again, for those who plan a longer stay, the U.S. Capitol is a "must". It is necessary to get entrance tickets to the capitol ahead of your visit. You can do this at www.visitthecapitol.com.
We highly recommend their "Monuments by Moonlight" tour and the trolley is also a great way to see Arlington Cemetery and the Changing of the Guard there.
Want to walk on the wild side? Can you say Pandas?!!!! The zoo is a little out of the way in northwest Washington. It is recommended you visit in the morning and on a week day.
