Maid of Honor
Krissy and I met through mutual friends and after living together in college, we moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to work for Bacardi & I’ll tell ya- serving booze to a bunch of drunk idiots for 14 hours a day in ridiculous costumes in the summer heat will create a bond like no other. One of my favorite memories was when we bought an already inflated 2 man boat and drove/laughed 30 miles to a yacht club water concert with this thing (semi) tied down to the top of my little car. Since we (clearly) didn’t have a yacht, we paddled around in our 2 man boat with our cooler in tow and had the best day making friends and memories. Krissy lives in Chicago now but we still talk every day about what’s going on in our lives. I couldn’t survive without her. I love you, Kristine!

On the first night I moved into my college dorm, there was no internet and my roommate (who was bringing her TV) hadn’t moved in yet. Of course 18 year old me hadn’t packed anything to read. I was bored to tears so I began wandering the halls of the dorm. I heard music playing from a room so I knocked on the door and said, “Hi, I’m super bored. Do you want to be friends?” It was Niki’s door. We were inseparable for the next 5 years. The night before I started law school we drank a bottle of wine and both shaved half our head. The hardest I've ever laughed, and the second hardest, and third... has been with Niki.

Katie and I went to the same babysitter when we were in kindergarten and became friends over a mutual distain for a girl with a ladybug backpack (long story). We stayed close friends growing up and both went to Mizzou. We ended up joining the same sorority where (as you can imagine) the shenanigans continued. Katie has been there for me through every stage of my life. As little girls we loved playing with our baby dolls- how crazy that on my wedding day her real babies will be toddling down the aisle as our ring bearer and flower girl.

In the 5th grade my group of friends decided we wanted to add one more to our girl gang (this is a true story). We pulled out the yearbook and went picture by picture until deciding Kate was really awesome & we wanted her as a friend (5th grade girls are both terrible and hilarious). We invited her to a slumber party and the rest is history. Turns out we made a great choice because Kate and I became inseparable for our teenage years. In high school if we were stressed or overwhelmed we would drive down this road that was surrounded by woods- one would drive, the other would lean out the window and scream at the top of her lungs until we emerged at the other end. I have yet to find something as therapeutic as that. *CRRR, Mockingbird, over*

AVT and I went to law school together and hit it off. We had side-by-side study carrels where we kept, among an assortment of other things, a serious stash of snacks. On the nights we had to spend all night at the library studying, we would take turns napping under our desks with our blanket. There were nights we were so stressed that we cried until we laughed ,and then proceeded to laugh until we cried. The day after we survived the bar exam we hopped on a plane and backpacked Vietnam together for 3 weeks. One of our hostels had ants in the bed and lizards in the bathroom. We expressed gratitude for the lizards not being in the beds and promptly passed out after a long day of travel. I couldn't have survived law school without this girl!

Jenny was the "older neighbor girl" growing up. We spent our summers absolutely attached at the hip. 99% of the time you could find us at the pool, unless we were skipping swim team practice in which case we were hiding nearby. One summer we convinced a pet store to sell us two cats. My brother is allergic, so you can imagine how well that went over. Jenny was always a girly girl in cute pink clothes and I was a tomboy through and through. She eventually dragged me to the mall and convinced me to buy something other than soccer shorts. Thanks for that, Jennifer.

I met Marlena during the first week of college. I walked into the lunch hall & all the sudden there's this girl asking me if I'd like to sit with her. I remember her chatting my ear off as she's flailing her arms around telling me stories, and I'm thinking "who in the world is this girl?!" We quickly became close friends- turns out she lived in the same dorm and same floor as I did. We would stay up until all hours of the night/morning watching crappy TV and eating snacks, or finding some trouble to get into somewhere in Greek town. One time Krissy got hit over the head with a beer bottle by a psychopath and when the police showed up Marlena told them enthusiastically that she had plans to hunt down and kill the girl. Anyway, that's why I love Marlena.

Jess and I met through Niki somewhere between the age of 21 and 22. She immediately clicked with our group and all the sudden our college fam grew by one. But weirdly, it was like she was always there, I can't imagine life without her. Jess is always the one that will give it to you straight, no B.S., no sugar coating. She’ll be real in giving advice but is also one of the most caring, supportive, understanding humans I’ve ever known. My favorite thing to do with Jess is tear up a dance floor. Over the last decade there have been lots of songs that as soon as they come on- you’ll see me scanning the room to find my girl! CAT DADDDDY!
