Adam and I entered to win a free wedding giveaway for first responders/military/teachers/nurses at The Ridge at Greenbluff in Spokane, WA. We had talked about the future before, but had no set plans, and decided that we should at least attempt to win an all inclusive wedding package. We found out Friday night (September 25th) that we had been chosen for the wedding on October 11th! That has not given us a lot of time to prepare for a wedding, and we do apologize to those who are unable to make it, as well as for not being able to send out real invitations. We are only allowed to have 12 people attend the ceremony, but we do plan to have a reception after and would love for people to come celebrate with us! There will be more information on the reception in the days to come; we are working diligently on securing a site and catering.
Adam and I met in October of 2017 while I was finishing up my last year of college down at Washington State University. It wasn't the chance romantic encounter that one dreams about, like being a clumsy girl not paying attention, who happens to accidentally trip and fall into the strong saving arms of her dream man. No, we met on a dating app (to be more specific, the LEAST romantic dating app, Tinder). I called my mother as I drove the hour and fifteen minutes to go on our first date, and let her know that I was meeting this tall, lanky red headed pilot stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base as well as provided her with all the important details in case he turned out to be a creep. I pulled up to his house (yes, I know what you are thinking.. you dumb girl, never meet in a private place!), and from there he drove us to dinner and dancing. All it took was one dance for me to know that I wanted to be in this man's arms forever. For the next 6 months, we commuted between Pullman and Spokane to be with one another. After I graduated from WSU, I accepted a job with Spokane County as a Juvenile Corrections Officer, and we moved in together. During the nearly 3 years that we have been together, he has deployed 3 times, and will be deploying again at the end of November. Staying busy with my career as a Corrections Officer helps make the time go by faster when he is away; I focus on being the best mentor that I can be to the youth in detention, and hope to give them the guidance that they so very much need to make better life choices. Adam and I would be thrilled to be chosen for one of the Mini Wedding Giveaways on the beautiful Ridge at Greenbluff; we have orders to move to Oklahoma in May 2021, and we would be so grateful to be able to get married in the beauty of the Northwest before we have to leave it. How we met may not be romantic at all, but a giveaway wedding at The Ridge would make for the perfect romantic story to share.
