Matron of Honor
Karissa is my wonderful sister-in-law, and she has been a great friend and role model to me over the years. She has been the perfect addition of positivity and excitement to our family. I'm still not sure why she decided to marry my brother, but I am so thankful she did! She is now a mother to my beautiful niece, Nora and I have loved watching her flourish into her new role as a mother! She brings joy to everyone she meets, especially the students at Prairie View Elementary where she currently teaches.
Best Man
Dustin is the brother I have known the longest. We have been through quite a few adventures together - many of these adventures involving fixing things around the farm before Dad found out that we broke them! One of my earliest memories of Dustin is being grounded from riding the four wheeler, so we would push the four wheeler down a hill and then "needed to" drive it back up hill to get it in the shed. We would fight as all siblings do, but were always able to move and on get things done! Dustin will graduate from USD in December 2020 and is bound to do some great things!
Bridesmaid
My partner-in-crime, travel buddy, and the best New Mexican I know! Caitlin and I became instant friends during college orientation (when we both thought the name games were stupid), and we have shared many of life's biggest moments together since then. I would say our best highlights were her confirmation in the Catholic church during our freshman year, and our month-long cross-country road trip after graduation! She married an incredible man, Stone Lardner, in October and she now works as a civil engineer in Albuquerque where she is changing the world.
Groomsman
Jaden has been one of my favorite "adopted" brothers. Jaden and I have been best friends since pre-elementary and have enjoyed each other's company so much, we even decided to embark on the college journey together to become some great Mechanical Engineers! I think my earliest memories all revolve around camping in Adrian and biking around town extensively - always meeting interesting kids that were also staying at the campground. Since then, we have spent a lot of time building, working, and studying together. I can honestly say, Jaden has made a tremendous positive impact on my life and I am thankful to have this gentleman standing by my side.
Bridesmaid
I am so thankful the there was a sister among all the John's! Cheyenna graciously welcomed me into the family from day one, and she has made me feel at home with everyone. I've watched Cheyenna grow from a young teen into a strong young woman who is tough, loving, and hardworking. She is in the midst of her senior year of high school, and I love hearing her ideas for the future because I know she is going to continue to go on and do amazing things!
Groomsman
When I first met Ben, I was a little intimidated - mainly because I know what it is like having a little sister and being curious about what type of guy she will bring home to the family. Since then, I have gotten to know Ben more and more each year and been able to do a few fun things - ice fishing, going on a trip to pick up a new motor for the infamous Honda, and having a few beers together every now-and-then. Ben is a hard working man with a wonderful family and I am very excited to be able to call him my brother-in-law.
Bridesmaid
We like to say Lexi Heil was forced to be best friends with me and Abbie because she stood between us in line in first grade. Despite us always picking on her and calling her "Flexi-Lexi," she has always stuck by our sides. Lexi is a beautiful, down-to-earth friend who has always given me great advice. I appreciate her dedication and kindness through the years more than she knows, and especially how she has always kept me grounded in my faith. Lexi will graduate in spring 2022 with her master's in Occupational Therapy where her giving nature and brilliant mind will serve many people.
Groomsman
Dakota is the brother I have known the second longest. Once Dakota came along, he became the little brother to Dustin and I, and probably was picked on the most as a result of this. I will say though, being picked on probably made Dakota the smartest of us because he was able to learn how to out-wit us! One of my earlier memories of Dakota is trying to make him drink a cocktail of milk, water, Nesquik, prune juice, and who knows what else because he had a cold and it would "make him better." This plan ultimately backfired and Mom made me drink it instead. Dakota is now attending USD with plans to attend medical school in the future.
Bridesmaid
Prior to marrying Brogan, Abbie had the best last name ever - Herbst. Because in alphabetic order, we got to stand next to each other in line in Kindergarten and subsequently we became best friends. For the last eighteen years, Abbie has been a true friend and sister in Christ. She has helped me stay rooted in my Catholic faith and has been with me every step of the way from learning the alphabet to learning how to "adult." She recently moved back to Minnesota and is teaching at St. Francis Xavier School where she continues to share her incredible faith and knowledge.
Groomsman
Jonathan was first described to me as being a charismatic person who is full of energy - although I am not quite sure this description quite prepared me for the first time I did meet Jonathan. He was WAY more charismatic and energetic than I envisioned. My first memories of him were being a great story teller and just carrying a great persona while always being able to lighten up the room bringing laughter and joy. Watching Jonathan transition from a junior in high school to a sophomore in college has been great and I am excited to see where the future takes him!
Bridesmaid
Anyone who has met Mallory would say she is a ray of sunshine, smiles, laughter, and joy! From early years she has brought me happiness and shown great support in everything I have done. Mallory has been with me for many celebrations in life - from annual gingerbread house making to my college graduation. And I am so excited to have her celebrate our marriage with us too! Mallory is currently serving as the Director of Campus Ministry at the River Falls Newman Center, and they are so lucky to have her.
Groomsman
Damon is my youngest brothers, but it doesn't make our relationship any less than the others! Damon and I were able to bond in a very different day. Unlike the others, I can remember many things from the day he was born. I think one of the most memorable things with Damon is when Dustin, Dakota, and I made him eat lemons and recorded his reaction. We still have the videos and can all laugh at them today! Damon definitely had the opportunity to grow up quickly and definitely took advantage of learning a lot (probably more than he should have at a young age!) Damon is in 7th grade and becoming quite the man!
Junior Bridesmaid
Frankie has been my "mini-me" for many years now, and we share such a special bond. I started babysitting her and her older brother, Isaac, when we were all much smaller and when she was still in diapers! She has always made me giggle and she brings out the best in me. Frankie is such a kind-hearted, silly, and thoughtful young woman and I am so lucky to have her in my life!
