Kristen and Justin first crossed paths during the Young Adults’ lunch at Watermark Plano in 2018. It wasn’t until a year later that Justin officially moved back to McKinney for work, when they both started attending the Porch North (Young Adults’ Ministry) volunteer training. After one of the meetings, Kristen and Justin were chatting and discovered that they both grew up aboard and have a mutual interest in serving international students. A couple days later, Justin invited Kristen for a dinner, she was thinking, “He probably just wanted to get to know more about the international students ministry." After getting to know each other and playing boardgames over a few hours, Justin asked Kristen if she wants to go on another date sometime soon. They still enjoy playing boardgames together and always up for a game night!

Justin met up with some of our friends to find a special spot to propose to Kristen. We found the perfect spot and Justin asked Kristen's community group girls to help him to make a plan. They helped Justin to pick out an outfit, went to the spot early and set everything up. A couple weeks before the special day, Justin asked Kristen if she would like to go to the park and take pictures with him and his dog, Max. The day of the proposal, Justin went to get Max and picked Kristen up, they drove to the location and went for a walk. While they were getting close to the spot , Justin said, "Let's go this way!" As they were walking down the dock on the lake, Kristen started to realize what was going on. Justin asked the question and Kristen said YES!! Then, her CG girls were walking down the dock to surprise her.
