Where it all began...

Tommy and I both attended college in Mankato, Minnesota. Like any typical Friday night in college, my roommates and I decided to have a few people over. My roommate's boyfriend (one of Tommy's groomsmen) just so happened to be Tommy's roommate. Little did I know, my roommates had a plan to set me up with one of Tommy's other roommates/groomsmen. I, being completely oblivious to this so called "plan", was more interested in Tommy and his luscious man-bun. As most of you know, Tommy is as shy and quiet as they come. Lucky for me, my roommates told him that I thought he was attractive. (Tommy edit: It's a good thing they told me or else I wouldn't have caught on, I am pretty oblivious.) Once Tommy caught wind of that, he definitely started to pay more attention to me. He didn't make any moves on me because he was either too scared or shy, not sure. (Tommy edit: I am a gentleman.) The only attempt he made all night was right before he left. As I walked by him to go upstairs, he didn't say a word mind you, he handed me his phone with a new contact page open. (Tommy edit: KRISTA DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING EITHER, SHE JUST SMILED AND TYPED IT ALL IN AND HANDED IT BACK.) The only thing Tommy texted me, was his name. Nothing else. Fast forward a week later. September 28th, Tommy's birthday. Still no texts. I had to be the "bigger man" and text him first. Me being as shy as Tommy, I started with the most obvious thing I could say, "Happy Birthday." Come to find out, Tommy was actually waiting for my "Happy Birthday" text so he could ask me on a date. The rest is history!

His Plan

My Original Plan: I spent countless hours talking to one of my friends about proposing to Krista. He happened to be a photographer and lives in Colorado. We made plans to meet up in Zion National Park in Utah for what Krista thought was just a vacation. My friend and I had the whole trip planned out "to a T". I was going to propose (selfishly) on my favorite hike, The Narrows. We had flights, hotels, a rental car, and even dinner reservations booked. But, that obviously didn't go as planned, thanks to COVID. COVID Plan: With my perfect proposal out of the question, I was initially planning on waiting, but that didn't happen either. I got impatient and told Krista's parents that I was just going to propose one morning. So keeping with the hiking theme, we went for a local walk through the woods instead. I couldn't find any scenic areas to pop the question, so I resorted to a picnic bench. It wasn't as romantic, but she cried (and said yes), so I count it as a win! I wouldn't have it any other way!
