Rob had just had his yearly check up with the doctor and now needed to get his medications filled. He decided to use the Walgreens by his house, especially after noticing the new pharmacist that had caught his eye. As he is dropping off his medications he notices a familiar name of Skillings on the license on the wall. He knows a Dale Skillings at work, could they be related? He asks the technician who the pharmacist is, she responds Krista..... Krista was having her “normal” day at work. As she is packaging a prescription she overhears a customer ask which pharmacist is on duty, oh no! was she about to have to deal with a complaint! The customer asks if she knows a Dale Skillings, still an oh no thought because if you know Dale Skillings you know why. Reluctantly she responds, “Yes, that’s my dad!” He responds, “I work with him at Willbros.” She responds how cool thinking what a small world! and he’s kinda cute and tall. The next day Rob asked Dale whether or not she was dating anyone and she was. Later that week Krista told her dad about her meeting with Rob and he told her he was a nice guy. They started a friendship over multiple meetings at Walgreens, God continued to work in their lives and eventually brought them together in His time.
Rob managed to completely surprise Krista. Krista was under the impression that everyone was getting together to celebrate her dad’s birthday. The restaurant chosen was the same restaurant where they had their first date, Pei Wei. The issue with this is that her dad doesn’t usually want to eat chinese food especially not for his birthday so how to get around this issue.... Come in long-time family friends Melody and AK Manahan, her dad will eat wherever they want to. So the story became that Melody and AK wanted to get together for Dale’s birthday and they hadn’t met Krista’s boyfriend yet so this will be the time for that. Her brother and sister-in-law James and Loretta and the kids were able to get away with being there because their schedules are always busy and this was an open day for them too. The set-up was perfect, Krista did not suspect anything, she was even in the middle of telling a story about how she got a fortune a few weeks ago in her cookie that said something about a new member joining her family when she read the fortune cookie that asked her to marry Rob! It was a great surprise and we are so grateful to everyone that helped Rob pull it off, it was a perfect moment that we will remember forever!
