While we could say that we officially began the journey to where we are now in July of 2016 at a mutual friend's wedding in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, CO, we've actually known each other a lot longer than that. We were both classmates and friends while attending the same middle school in South Florida. Though we didn't share many classes or social groups, we got along as well as any middle schoolers could. It had been over a decade since we'd last seen each other and we knew rather quickly that there was a connection between us. Krista, already considering locations for relocation from her then-home in Florida, felt strongly enough about Mike and their mutual interest in each other that she took a tremendous leap of faith (and in the process blew Mike away with her courage to show him what the possibility of a future between them meant to her), and moved nearly across the country to join him in Colorado. In the five years we spent living on the Front Range, we experienced the full spectrum of life. We felt the loss of a dear loved one and in the same year welcomed our own new life into the world. All the while we worked, daily, on how to live with one another, love each other through all times and challenges, and still manage to forgive each other, celebrate each other, laugh with each other and tell each other "I love you," at the end of each day before we shut our eyes. Some people hear our story and laugh at how our paths crossed more than once to get here. We just know it's what we both wanted, pretty much instantly, back in Golden. Now those paths run parallel to each other, and we count ourselves rich as we move forward together, surrounded by our friends and family that lift us up and care for us on a daily basis.
