How We Met - Her Version

Butterflies, Electronic Music, and Cross Town Rivals

A classic tale of boy sees sparkly butterfly at Halloween concert. Girl thinks large man in the furry zebra-print coat looks suspicious, but very cute. Boy pursues girl, to girl's delight, and almost a decade later we are still dancing, laughing and playing chase. Our 1st (official) date was at a USC Kappa Sigma fraternity date party. Kasey came to pick me up across town, and after getting off work late (thanks Lauren Watkins for entertaining him while I wasn't there), I arrived in a state, threw on one of my roommate's dresses and maniacally talked the entire ride to USC (a future staple of our relationship). After stopping to pick up a full set of homemade jell-o shots (I should have known then he was a keeper), we arrived (extremely) late to the limo and squeezed in; a lone Bruin among Trojans. Once boarded, Kasey offered me a drink to ease the awkward tension. He flipped a half open bottle of 1800 Tequila upside down to show me a cool party trick (he was sure would impress). Unfortunately, he forgot to hold the lid and poured half the bottle on my dress before realizing what had gone wrong! My response? I threw my hands in the air in surprise, accidentally hitting the girl next to me, and while her nose started to bleed and the smell of tequila wafted through the air, we locked eyes in sheer panic and.... started laughing uncontrollably. That was it for me, after breaking the ice (and potentially the girl's nose) I went on to laugh more that night than I thought was possible with another human being. I never looked back.

Bass, Glitter, and Burning Bears

whomp-womp-whomp-whooomp-whooomp-whomp-womp ♫♪♫ I wasn't supposed to be at that concert. Fate has Logan Stewart to thank for not waking after tailgating, and Skylar Stewart for suiting me up. Bass thudding, heart pumping, breath taken away... but not because I've been dancing for hours; I caught a glimpse of glitter on a beautiful butterfly. Naturally, on spotting something shiny, I had to go say hello. Danced, laughed, and had a really really really good time. The night was done and she thought no way she'd see me again, but I couldn't get her sparkle off my mind. A few weeks delay, I tracked her down on the golf course maze of tents and bbq's outside of the Rose Bowl. I was a traitor and helped save a burning bear hung from a tree (the glitter made me do it), then she was a traitor and helped steal back my red and gold sneakers (her glitter must have rubbed off on me). She thought she could bring me into the Bruin student section, but I'm not really one for blending in... the crowd 'kindly' asked me to leave. So, I stole a kiss and left with a smile on my face because I knew there was a lifetime of adventures waiting ahead. And I've been stealing kisses ever since.
