On a fateful fall day in 2018, Johnny signed up for a fitness class at Onnit Gym in Austin. Little did he know that would be the day he would meet his future wife—the hot, bubbly fitness instructor Krista! They were drawn to each other energetically and instantly became friends! Over the next five years their friendship depended and grew. In 2023, Krista and Johnny separately started getting closer to God and doing their inner work. This included hours of meditation, self-discipline, prayer, fasting, coaching, and bold moves across the country. They were each committed to becoming the most epic versions of themselves, rising to their highest expression individually. In the fall of 2023, Krista became single for the first time in eight years. She wanted six months to be single, but Johnny couldn't wait six minutes to ask her out. So he decided to pursue Krista romantically by writing her poem after poem, loving her, building her up, blessing her, and giving her the time and space to join him when she was ready. Johnny poured his heart out daily for three weeks until he finally said enough of the six month rule and nervously asked her if she would go on an actual date with him and let him out of the friend zone. Meanwhile, Krista was very intentionally getting clear on exactly who she wanted to be, and made a list of exactly who she wanted to be with, Krista decided to take a leap of faith and go on a date with Johnny. Johnny knew this was his big chance so he pulled out all of the stops to impress the one and only Krista Large. Even then, he was confident she was the answer to his prayers and that this date would be her last first date. Johnny surprised Krista with a sunset helicopter ride, a fancy steak dinner, and a visit to an illusion museum, and ended the night with a picnic on Mt. Bonnell. What happened next was nothing short of a best selling romance novel. The truth finally came out as they each started to share secret poems back and forth under the night sky. Krista revealed her list she so carefully crafted only to find that Johnny was everything she had ever wanted. Suddenly, they were surrounded by a huge 360 degree lightning storm perfectly mirroring the elctricity in the air between them. Johnny being a gentleman, allowed Krista to set the pace for their first date. It didn't take long until Krista leaned in to kiss Johnny for the first time...and time stood still. This was unlike any kiss they had ever had before and they stayed out until 2AM under the night sky. Every date they went on after that night was organically a handful of the best experiences, with tons of laughter and romance. So Krista and Johnny then created an experience they affectionately call "Best Day Ever," each with its own unique name and theme. Best Day Ever is a quarterly tradition they plan to create for the rest of their lives. On this day, they each list at least 10 of their favorite ideas and do them all in 24 hours! It's like a decathlon of fun and love spanning from eating their favorite foods, reading and writing poems, spending time in nature, new adventures, surprises, and more! The first best day ever took place on September 29th, 2023. On that day, Krista was annointed by Johnny as "The Answer." Later Krista shared that she was madly in love with Johnny for the first time through a poem titled "You Know." Since then, they have fallen deeper in love every day and stayed in sync every step of the way. Other fun memories from this year include golden nights with friends, concerts, a double baptism, traveling to other parts of the world, two stepping, planning this epic wedding, and other journeys!
