In the spring of 2016, Krista attended a lunchtime seminar at the downtown office of the Pima County Public Defender. She did not know it at the time, but something magical was about to happen. Krista will tell you that Alex Coomer, Esq. delivered his lecture with the confidence of a seasoned defense attorney, and when he concluded, marched promptly to the back of the room for a personal plate of chocolate chip cookies. At that moment, somehow, she knew this guy could be something special. Alex noticed Krista that afternoon as well, but was too focused on the plate of cookies and too shy to introduce himself. As fate would have it, Alex and Krista ran into each other a few weeks later during professional visitation with clients at the jail. Alex summoned all of his courage and asked Krista if she would be interested in attending a BBQ at his house. Under the false pretense that this BBQ was an "office social event," Krista agreed. At the BBQ Alex tried to act suave with his friends and look competent grilling burgers, but all he was interested in was if Krista was enjoying herself or looking for the nearest exit. Fortunately for Alex, Krista seemed to have fun and was the last one to leave that night. Alex texted Krista the next day to invite her on a real date. She agreed. Date by date, Alex and Krista's bond grew closer to the point they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the next three years, Alex and Krista adventured through Europe together, adopted two fur children, changed careers, moved to Cambodia, moved back to Tucson, changed careers back, ran lots of miles, played lots of soccer and ate just enough peanut butter and cookies to fuel it all. Amidst all of the moving parts, one thing that remained constant was Alex and Krista's unconditional love for each other and their desire to always support one another.
