The venue is out in the country of Alexander County so you will definitely need a vehicle and a working GPS. Don’t have a GPS? We will supply all of our guests with the EASIEST directions to the venue from any direction you’re coming from. Please be aware of working farms with animals because sometimes you never know what could happen. Venue The Emerald Hill 3792 Cheatham Ford Road Hiddenite, NC 28636
Back in November Alexander County had some MAJOR roads and bridges damaged in a storm. Some have been fixed while others have not. If you’re coming from The Hickory or Taylorsville area you will encounter a few major road closures to the venue. Cheatham Ford Road has one near the Hwy 90 side of the road and another somewhere else. If you feel as though you will need some direction on how to get to the venue please either reach out to us or the venue. I will do my best to find better directions to help our guests. We were hoping they would have fixed the roads by now but they haven’t.
It’s advised that you rent a car if you’re flying in from out of state. Airport is 45 mins from the hotels. The hotel is about 25 mins from the wedding venue. To get to a lot of the different places in our suggested things to do a vehicle is needed. Uber/Lyft may be available but we suggest renting a vehicle for yourself.
In late April it can be anywhere from 65-75 during the day and a little cooler at night. We would advise you do a 10 day weather check before your trip just in case. Make sure to bring at least 1-2 sweaters for the cooler evenings
Beer and Wine is sold EVERYWHERE! Hahaha! You can find them in CVS/Walgreen, Gas stations, grocery stores, etc. if you’re looking for the hard stuff....check out the ABC STORE aka to us The Packie. Also DO NOT BE ALARMED....North Carolina is an OPEN CARRY STATE. You WILL see people with a gun on their hip. Not going to lie it startled us at first because we weren’t used to it but now it doesn’t phase us.
Fair warning.....GOOD Chinese food is hard to come by down here! If there’s ONE THING we miss about Massachusetts other than all of our friends and family, it’s the Chinese food. Lol check out Rice Fun or Dragon Golden if you’re looking for Chinese food!
One thing we forgot to mention is....speed. The speed limit around town is the usual 30-35. Once you get out of the city limits or into the country areas.....it’s like 45-50. It was a shock for Krissy’s mom and took some getting used to but she’s got the hang of it. Just ask her what happened on her birthday in Aug when we first moved down here hehehe! Depending where you are located if you need help by the local law enforcement will depend if you get a town/city officer or the sherif deputies. 🤷🏻♀️ we’re still trying to figure that one out hahahahaha! State trooper cars blend in sooooo well. Just keep the speed to 70 on the interstate or to the flow of traffic and don’t be a butthead you’ll be fine.
Our ceremony is scheduled to be outdoors so if it’s sunny out make sure to apply your sunscreen and bring those shades! Also be prepared with footwear. Since our venue is a Farm the landscaping can be a little uneven. Not horrible where it’s an issue but just be aware of little rolls in the ground. If weather changes our plan is it to have our ceremony in the barn where the reception is taking place.
Please contact either Krissy or Matt directly or contact the Matron of Honor Jessica. One things for sure we don’t want anyone to be sick. We want everyone to enjoy their food without any issue. We will be doing our best to accommodate everyone as a whole within means. We are planning for Southern BBQ.
As many know we are definitely not high maintenance people. Our wedding is a Rustic, Simple, Farmhouse type vibe so we suggest dressy casual with a rustic flare. Which means the boys DO NOT need those suits! If they have a nice pant they want to wear and a comfortable button down go for it! Ladies you have a comfortable casual dress you want to wear go for it! Just no sweats or jammies please!
We ask that during the ceremony that all of our guest remain unplugged. This way our photographer can do her job. Before and after the ceremony we would love for our guests to get some awesome candids!
