Question

Why are you having a Pre-Wedding Reception?

Answer

We want to celebrate with all of our extended family and friends but realize making a trek to Africa is tough for many folks. To accommodate those folks, we plan to have a gather in NJ that will include a Welcome Dinner (TBD) and large Reception (with cocktail hour). Think of this as a huge party before the wedding.

Question

If I can only attend one event, which one should I attend?

Answer

Definitely prioritize Arusha over the NJ Reception! Hope to see you there!

Question

For the NJ Reception, where can I stay and how will I get to the venue?

Answer

Option 1: Courtyard Somerset. King Room: $149 / night, 2 Queen Beds: $159 / night, King Suite: $229 / night Option 2: Hyatt Regency New Brunswick 5 minute walk from New Brunswick Train station, in case you want to take the train to NYC. King or Double Queen room: $180 /night Both are a 10 min drive to the reception venue (Marigold).

Question

Where do I book my stay for the African wedding?

Answer

We have booked out Kili Seasons Resort. Please let us know if you are attending and we will reserve a room for your party. First come first serve (there is only room for 56 people!). If you would like to stay at the resort, please Venmo Manav to reserve a room. Click on the Travel section for pricing and other details.

Question

When and where should I fly for the Africa wedding?

Answer

Please fly into JRO (Kilimanjaro International Airport), landing on Thursday, June 26th. We will organize shuttles / taxis to pick up guests and drop them off at the resort. As soon as you book, please send your flight details so we can organize a pickup from the airport. (If you fly in earlier, you will need to find your own accommodations until Thursday) Departure dates depend on whether you'd like to stay for a safari or other activities. Please RSVP so we can get a headcount for this activity. Please note, a good price from SFO to JRO would be around $1300-1800pp and from NYC would be around $900-1300/pp. Some flights have long layovers (8+ hours) and airlines will provide a FREE hotel room during your layover; please check their policy if needed.

Question

How will I get around in Arusha?

Answer

We plan to provide shuttles for all of our guests throughout their stay in Arusha. We will pick you up from the airport and provide shuttles to and from events. We can also request individual taxis if guests would like to explore Arusha on Sunday.

Question

What is included in the hotel cost?

Answer

The hotel cost includes breakfast and access to the resorts' amenities (but please note, spa services and excursions will be at your own cost). We will also be covering all shuttles, food, and drinks for our guests throughout their stay :)

Question

Is there anything that’s not included?

Answer

Tips are not included. You’ll want to bring some 1’s and 5’s for the bartenders and servers taking care of you throughout your stay. Keep in mind, your shuttle driver isn’t a part of the resort staff, so bring some cash for your transfer driver. Additional excursions or spa treatments are also not included and can be paid with a credit card or cash at the hotel.

Question

Can I stay somewhere other than the hotel/resort selected?

Answer

Yes, but you will be responsible for all the bookings and logistics such as food and transportation. Feel free to reach out to us and we can connect you to a local tour agent.

Question

What is the plan after the wedding?

Answer

We will be organizing an optional safari tour, but at your own expense. Krishna's cousin will organize the safari cars and lodging, we will put you into groups, and organize departure dates and itineraries based on your RSVP and responses. Please let us know if you would like to go to anywhere else, Kenya, Zanzibar and/or climb Mt.Kilimanjaro (+ 7 days). Krishna's cousin can also plan that out for you.

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

No - your presence there is great enough!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Haldi and Sangeet - Preferably Indian outfits, the more colorful, the better! Otherwise any colorful outfit you have. Wedding - Preferably Indian outfits, try to avoid wearing all white. Reception - Black tie/formal If you don't have any Indian outfits, try to borrow from friends or there are cheap providers online: www.cbazaar.com www.utsavfashion.com Safari - Khaki, olive, tan, brown and earthy greens tend to be your best bets avoid brights colors and especially avoid blue or black as these colors attract tsetse flies. Ideally plan to bring long-sleeved tops and pants to protect your skin from the sun or cold. You can also bring layers to keep warm in the morning and evenings.

Question

Am I allowed to bring my children or +1s?

Answer

Please see your RSVP. Due to space limitations, we cannot accommodate additional guests.

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Ideally you would arrive on Thursday. We will have transportation available from the airport to Kili Seasons hotel and we have a welcome dinner starting 7pm.
