Diyaanka first spotted Krish online, scrolling through the new group chat the night before the start of Teach For America Summer Institute Training in Dallas when she noticed another Indian name among the incoming corps and she was immediately curious who this cute Gujarati boy was (Krish’s words not Diyaanka’s!). The next day, Diyaanka and her childhood friend Ranjini arrived at the SMU dorms for move in day when one of Ranjini's friends came outside to say hi. To Diyaanka’s surprise, it was none other than the mystery Gujarati boy from GroupMe—Krish himself. Destiny continued to push them together - they could not get rid of each other! They spent countless hours together, from hanging out with the same group of friends to late nights preparing lesson plans. Each morning, they would ride the bus to the summer school where they taught. Diyaanka would be the last one on the bus and because she never made it on time for breakfast, would always ask Krish to grab her some. After a while, Krish soon started getting to the dining hall early to grab Diyaanka her breakfast and a coffee without her even asking! Diyaanka was a sucker for how thoughtful he was and not long after, they realized there was something special between them. From those first few weeks onward, Krish and Diyaanka navigated their way through the ups and downs of their early teaching careers, the challenges of COVID, long distance, and countless adventures that have brought them closer every step of the way. They built a strong foundation centered on faith and living their lives by the guidance of their Gurus and hope to continue growing together for the rest of their lives.
