We met on the campus of our Alma Marter at Illinois State University in 2013. We had our first encounter at the front desk of Cardinal Court. There was some friendly flirting and a lot of laughs the first few times we crossed paths. We would walk to class together, catch the bus, and have conversations at the desk all the time. We had really big social lives and always played the cool role to our friends. It was almost as if we were both feeling each other out before making any big commitments. But all the while, our feelings for each other grew more and more in those moments. We really hit it off in the summer of 2014 and that led to the night we made things official, January 1st, 2015. We were Lovers and the world couldn’t tell us otherwise. Each year we were together brought about new lessons, new challenges, new love, new laughs, and most of all- GROWTH! We were just kids back at ISU and have grown into successful adults. Most importantly, we grew together and for each other. We have been through thick and thin for 6 years before getting engaged. Now, we are about to step into this new chapter of our lives and take our relationship to the next level. While the road ahead may not be clear, it will surely be paved with the decisions we make together as a family. The Glover Family: From Lovers to Glovers!”
A random Thursday turned into a day we will cherish forever. On March 11, 2021, Kris left notes around the house with plans for the day. First, I was sent to Ancient Aire Baths for a few hours to relax and unwind. After reading the next note, I headed to the nail shop for my deluxe pedicure. Once I made it back home, there was one more note telling me me to prepare for dinner that evening. Did I forget to mention he bought two dresses for me to choose from?! It’s almost like he was reading my mind and heard me say, “I don’t have anything to wear”! I got dressed and Kris called letting me know he was outside. Once outside, I noticed he was driving a new Range Rover truck. I thought to myself, " He had been at the dealership all day and now we are going out to celebrate." We pulled up to Mr. Benny’s Steak & Lobster for dinner. The food was amazing and I was stuffed. Kris excused himself from the table and headed to the restroom. I should have known he had something up his sleeve, however I didn’t think too much about it and took a selfie instead. We took a picture before leaving the restaurant. As soon as he held the door open for us to leave I saw a camera flashing. I immediately apologized and tried to get out of the way- thinking I'd accidentally stepped in someone's photo. Then suddenly, all I heard was “Tatiana Shonique Henderson” while he began to get down on one knee. In an instant, I was overwhelmed with the butterflies in my stomach and caught chills hearing his loving speech. When he popped the question I, of course, said YES. For him...I’ll say YES a trillion times. After crying tears of joy, I was told we had one more stop to make. We walked into our surprise engagement party that Kris had been planning for months. We got to celebrate with family and friends all night. And to that, I say, "Stay tuned #LoverstoGlovers coming to a theater near you."
