Mendenhall Glacier
This is the main attraction. Easy hike, great photo opportunities including the waterfall where the proposal happened.
Goldbelt Tram- Currently closed, hoping it reopens soon.
The Tram is under repairs right now, but you can still do a hike up if you are up for checking out the views. Its 2 miles each way and 18,00ft elevation gain. A beautiful trip, great views if it's a sunny day. If there is cloud cover you still have great hiking opportunities. We can reserve passes through Kris' work if anyone is interested.
DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery
This is a great place for visitors and locals alike. Fun and educational if you brought little ones! Learn about the fascinating life cycle of salmon, their near shore marine environment, and the inner workings of a hatchery.
National Shrine of St. Thérèse
Beautiful walk we take on a regular basis. Peaceful, scenic and surfing available for the crazy ones. Seriously, we've seen people surfing out here!
Savikko Park
Juneau's premier sandy beach. Yes, the "sand" is old mine tailings but well worth the visit if you're interested in mining history or disc golf!
Jensen-Olson Arboretum
Another little gem "out the road" in Juneau.
Auke Bay for whale watching, fishing and other boating tours.
Lots of tours and fishing opportunities run out of the Auke Bay Statter Harbor. Many different options for boating experiences run out of this location. There is also good food and views from the surrounding restaurants. One of the recommendations would be https://jayleensalaska.com/ for a small boat private whale watching experience. Wings Airways & the Taku Glacier Lodge
One of our favorite experiences in Juneau. Not only do you get the experience of Taku Lodge, learning about the history and having lunch. You also get the site seeing tour of local glaciers.
Temsco Helicopters, Inc
Great opportunities to get up on the glacier by helicopter. There are a number of different tour operators but one that we’ve down was with Temsco. They offer various tour options including glacier guided walks and dog sledding.
Local Breweries and Distilleries
There a number of local breweries and distilleries worth checking out! Amalga Distillery. https://www.amalgadistillery.com/ Located in downtown Juneau, offering whiskey, gin and craft cocktails. Just down the street from Amalga is Devil's Club Brewing https://www.devilsclubbrewing.com/ Great sandwiches and beer. Alaskan Brewing in Lemon Creek is the classic original Juneau brewery. https://www.alaskanbeer.com/ And our go to spot is: Forbidden Peak Brewery. Located in beautiful Auke Bay this is the closest brewery to our house and has some of the best views in town so it's one of our go to spots. https://forbiddenpeak.com/
