We first saw each other on a group hike to Eagle Lake just above Emerald Bay. We completely fell for each other (him actually... into the dirt). Seeing each other a couple times that year in 2015 turned into every couple months in 2016 and becoming best friends. Living an hour and a half apart from each other has definitely been harder more times than not, but we've finally made it to the end! We started seeing each other and texting a lot more. People would come and ask me if he was my boyfriend before we had made things official because we truly felt like it... whoops. In July 2017 we made things official and fell utterly in love with each other and decided we couldn't live without one another. We're truly best friends and thank God for blessing us with our love.
July 4th 2018, 5am. My 18th birthday. He brought me to the river to watch the sunrise. We walked down the trail and I gave him a grin not knowing what was ahead. He of course knew and asked "why are you smiling?". Trying to prompt my reaction to what lay ahead. That's when I saw the pathway of lit candles and rose pedals leading up to a blanket laid out on the beach of the river. Four posts were set up on the corners of the blanket with fairy lights hung between them and pictures hanging. It was so beautiful. He gave me a wrapped gift which was an new iPhone. I opened it and on it there was a note that said "will you marry me?". I looked up to his sweet blue eyes and him on one knee. He asked me and I said "yes, of course!" after a long (as kris says) 15 seconds of me basking at the moment. We couldn't imagine doing life and following our dreams without each others hand to hold. Life is such a trip.
