We met through mutual friends at the Draught House Pub in Austin. Kris was a seasoned Draught House veteran, and Emily was slowly becoming a regular, but it wasn't until Halloween 2011 that they finally sat together. Emily was in full zombie costume (fake blood and all!), and while she was picking on Kris for not dressing up, she casually mentioned needing a date for an upcoming work party. Kris blurted out that he'd go with her, they exchanged phone numbers, and the rest is history!
We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2018. We spent the day finishing up some super last-minute shopping, wrapping presents, and watching a marathon of "The Office" Christmas episodes. After an amazing dinner (Emily is tooting her own horn here, but it was delicious!), Kris told Emily to choose her favorite episode of "The Office," which, of course, was a Halloween special. Kris presented Emily with a small wrapped gift. Inside she found a gold gnome-shaped ring holder. While adoring it, she looked up to find Kris on his knee with an open ring box. After a few words that would have to be bleeped on cable tv, she said, "YES!"
