Question

What is Desi attire?

Answer

For men, a traditional Sherwani or a well-tailored suit is a great option for a Desi wedding. A Sherwani is a long coat-like garment that is usually worn with a churidar or pants, and is adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments. It's a great choice for any male guest who wants to look elegant and sophisticated. For women, there are a variety of options to choose from, including lehengas, salwar kameez, and sarees. Lehengas are a popular choice, consisting of a long skirt, a blouse, and a dupatta. Salwar kameez, which is a long shirt paired with loose-fitting pants and a scarf, is a versatile option that is both comfortable and stylish. Sarees feature a long piece of fabric draped around the body, with a blouse and petticoat underneath (but be warned sarees can be quite tricky to put on, and stay on, without an experienced helper to dress you). We welcome and encourage anyone to participate in the culture and wear desi clothes on Sunday, but it is absolutely not mandatory!
