It was an unusually warm December night. Yanica wasn’t looking for love, and Kris wasn’t sure he’d ever find it. He was sitting on a barstool, catching up with the bartender, when Yanica walked in with her sister, Zelzen. Lucky for Kris, he knew Zelzen well. She was his favorite bartender at that bar, off duty for the night, and they’d had plenty of post-date debriefs. She’d basically become his unofficial relationship consultant. Yanica was visiting from Austin, and Zelzen was showing her the city, starting with her favorite stomping grounds. When Yanica sat down next to Kris, he could barely take his eyes off her, and it only helped that she was almost as nerdy as he was, sharing her rating scales for tequila and keen knowledge of the spirit's aging process. Watching the two of them click so effortlessly, Zelzen couldn’t help but kick herself for not making this introduction sooner. Kris and Yanica didn’t know that chance meeting would change the course of their lives, but it began with tequila and ended with a kiss. And now, three years later, they’re stepping into a new chapter, together, for the rest of their lives.

Yanica was visiting from Austin, and Kris wanted to plan a fancy date at Tiny Lou's to ask her to be his girlfriend. He grabbed a postcard in the restaurant and, while she was in the bathroom, wrote: "Will you be my girlfriend? Check yes, no, or hell yes!" Little did he know that she was planning something similar. When she returned, he presented the card to her, only for her to place the same card in front of him at the same time!
