We met about 10 years ago in karate, in a fight (he won). From there, we became friends and competed on the same circuit for years until he graduated. We hung out a lot during the 6 years we were in karate together because of our mutual friends, and he even asked me to his freshman homecoming dance. At my senior prom, I returned the favor and asked him to go with me. He wasn't able to attend because it overlapped with his drill weekend, but me asking him to prom turned into 5 years of dating, which in turn led to this moment. So, if anyone was wondering...
