We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Minneapolis in 2016. We definitely flirted a bit, but went our separate ways. The following spring we met up again through a group of friends. I drove all over the cities, but persevered to my final destination; Tony’s house. After that, he asked me on a proper date and we haven’t had enough of eachother since. Tony’s version is that, “she showed up at my place and wouldn’t leave.” Also true! Our engagement took place on Buck Island during a Bous family trip. All week I was being asked what I wanted to do on that day. I’d always reply that I’d like to go to the beach and out for dinner. Well, the Bous family went big and acquired the use of a house boat. Already having the best birthday ever on the ocean, they lured me to shore under the ruse of taking a family photo. I walked with Tony towards a jut of the beach where the photo was to be taken. I joked that this was a pretty perfect place to get down on knee. At this point we knew we’d get engaged, but Tony would never say when and often teased it would be another year every time I asked. So he said, “that’s another year”. I laughed and bickered, then turned around to see him down on one knee. His family had trailed behind us with cameras on and recorded the perfect moment for us. After realizing that the ring was not a prop and this was real, I was elated to say yes.
