Kyle was celebrating his 26th birthday with friends in Brooklyn. Stephanie was visiting NYC looking for apartments for her move from Boston. After meeting up with her friend Ashley from BU, she brought Stephanie to Brooklyn's Three Diamond Door to meet up with some of her work friends. Ashley broke the ice introducing Stephanie and Kyle, mentioning Kyle's from Wisconsin. Stephanie's pick-up line was "so do you like cheese curds?" And the rest was history. But actually it wasn't, since Kyle saved Stephanie's number down incorrectly. Their next chance encounter was after Stephanie had moved to New York a month later, at Brooklyn Bowl's "Emo Night" celebrating her 25th birthday. After running into each other and spending the night laughing and dancing to too much Fall Out Boy, Kyle finally saved her number correctly.
