Brianne and I met on the first day of college in August 2011 during our time at the University of Delaware. Our dorm rooms were in the same hallway within building F of the Dickinson dorm complex. The first few months of college we spent many hours “studying” in the lounge of Dickinson F. Not much fruitful studying was done during those first few months. Most of the time was used debating whose baseball team was better this year, Red Sox or the Yankees, and discussing differences in vernacular from Connecticut and Long Island. There were many common interests amongst us where we could talk for hours, and quickly a strong friendship was developing that would certainly last for years to come.

Over the course of our college years, we remained close and mingled amongst the same friends. Our fraternity and sorority frequently mixed together, and we attended each other’s formals. We frequented the same hang-outs and never lived further than a quick walk away. Shortly after Brianne returned from studying abroad our close friendship grew, and we began dating in January of 2015.

For the next five and one-half years, we lived separately, me in Connecticut and Brianne on Long Island. During this time we spent finishing school and launching our careers. However, we always made time every other weekend to make the two and one-half hour drive to visit.

I proposed to Brianne on February 6th, 2021 during the celebration of our six years together! We celebrated on the Connecticut shoreline at Water's Edge Resort & Spa with massages and dinner overlooking the coast. However just as the sunset that evening I had a surprise planned, or what I thought was a surprise! Unbeknownst to me, my erratic pacing alerted Brianne something may be happening. But nonetheless, everything unfolded perfectly and will be a moment we both cherish the rest of our lives.
