Well, I guess we technically met 20+ years ago when we were both in Miss Frisch's first grade classroom together at Tate Woods Elementary School. But that's when we still thought each other had cooties.. so fast forward to high school when we were forced together (in large part by our wonderful officiant EJ) seeing as Emma was 1 of about 3 girls in the school that was shorter than Anthony and therefore suitable for him as a homecoming date. Someone else beat Anthony to the punch asking Emma to HC that year but the two were later pushed together at a party in a friend's house. They became friends, then dated, then Anthony dumped Emma to focus on his friends (many of which will be standing next to us on the big day, so we guess in some ways it was worth it). Spoiler alert, Anthony later realized the errors of his ways. The couple went to senior prom together, then off to college and the rest is history, or basically that's all there is to tell because Anthony still hasn't ever officially asked Emma to be his girlfriend again.
Even though Anthony never asked Emma to be his girlfriend, he DID ask her to be his wife 11 years later at a restaurant in the great city of Chicago. He almost proposed earlier in the day at the field museum but panicked when he thought the metal detectors would alarm at the ring in his pocket, so he threw it back in the car last minute. He planned to propose later that night over drinks at the signature room, 95 floors above the city, where they first discovered their love of old fashioneds together. However, Anthony was so nervous he couldn't wait any longer so he got down on one knee right there at the dinner table and asked Emma to marry him. At least we think he did because neither one of them remember what he said due to nerves and shock- yes after 11 years Emma was still not expecting it when he proposed, so much so that she couldn't even eat her food. But still, it was the easiest yes she's ever said and now almost two years of planning later they can't wait to celebrate the big day with all of their loved ones.
