We officially met in college at the University of Portland. Katherine's parents were moving her in and invited the friends and family that lived in Portland out to dinner. Robbie was roommates with Liam, Katherine's cousin, so he brought Robbie along. Katherine's dad told them both to watch out for his little girl while at school and Robbie has not let him down since. There is something special about being friends first, always texting about Dodger Baseball, going to Mass, and meeting up with family for Sunday dinners. But, what really sealed the deal was that Robbie had a car and happily drove Katherine around town to go to Costco and Target, her two favorite places. On our first fall break home from school, the Dodgers were in the National Championship series. We went to a game and the rest is history. A couple of months later, we were home again and Robbie invited Katherine out on our first official date to a surprise spot, Cafe Santorini. Not only is this our first date spot, but it's also where Katherine's parents went out on their first date. Small world. Later, we found out that there is a photo of us in high school together. We went to brother/sister high schools, Saint Francis and Flintridge Sacred Heart and were both on our respective Campus Ministry teams. We are so grateful the photo of us was taken at the annual Christmas social, neither of us knowing that we had hung out with our future spouse that night. And if you aren't yet convinced that divine intervention brought us together, Robbie was selected in his sophomore year of high school to do a mission trip out in Blanding, Utah to rebuild a small Catholic Church in Moab. The boys stayed at Katherine's grandparents ranch, where Robbie was able to meet THE Mr. and Mrs. Lund. Katherine always wanted her future spouse to meet her grandpa, who passed away when she was a senior in high school, God had it all planned.
