Kiara works as a barista at Slice of Heaven Bakery, and Quentin moved back to town to help out his folks. He walked in and the sun framed him just right as he looked around with a smile until their eyes met. Kiara immediately formed a little crush. He ordered a dirty chai and she crafted it well enough for him to keep coming back regularly. In the spring of 2023, his mother came in to buy Quentin his drink, and Kiara built up the courage to write, "Hi Quentin!" with hearts for both dots (because she was too chicken to write her number). He came back the next day with a bouquet of flowers, and they talked every day afterwards.

For their very first date, they met at a very crowded bar. Between her quiet, nervous voice and his partially-deaf hearing, they decided to go to a quieter place. They talked for hours, delighting in each moment how similar their interests and how complimentary their world views were despite their age difference. They decided to set up a second date, on which he noticed how nervous she still was. He said to trust him and to take off her shoes. She didn't want to, but she did. Together they walked outside in the grass barefoot. When she asked why, he replied "So you can ground yourself." A couple months of hanging out and talking went by before she told him she loved him and wanted to officially be with him. He was the nervous one this time, but he agreed and said he loved her, too. They enjoyed each other and grew closer with every passing day.

Together they bought an RV, renovated it, and decided to travel the entire month of August to visit family, see all the sights, and do all the things. It was a wonderful road trip full of exciting adventures and relaxing moments in equal measure. The day before starting their journey home, he asked her to take off her shoes and join him on top of a sun-kissed, flat rock. She didn't want to, but she did. He asked her to take it all in and ground herself. Breathing in and looking around at the beautiful field around them, she turned to find him on his knee as he asked, "Will you marry me?" with a unique onyx ring they found while visiting a Navajo street market weeks prior. Clearly, she said yes.
