Hi there, it’s Kpanah. Welcome to our wedding website, I’m so glad you’re here to share in our joy! This is the “Story of Us.” Christopher and I met in the fall of 2018, at the beginning of our junior year of high school. I was sitting at the top of the stairs in the SVA Ad Building, waiting for Chemistry class to start, when he walked up and asked, “Hey, what’s your name… so, where are you from?” I told him, and he smiled and said, “Cool, my name’s Chris,” with the smallest head nod. I had no idea that I had just met the love of my life. Our paths continued to cross in class, with casual chats and small moments, but everything changed one October weekend. My ROK Parents, my “parents away from home,” had invited me to spend Sabbath afternoon with them and some others at their house. We were at Vespers the night before when Mrs. Chalker said, “Invite some friends.” Right then, Chris walked up with lemonade in hand. “Chris will be there,” she added. My heart skipped a beat. Up until that point, I had admired him quietly, the way he slouched in his chair during English, how he never sat straight in Chemistry, always turning around to ask if I understood what was going on (spoiler: I never did). He wasn’t like the other guys in our class, I thought to myself. He was quite, very chill and relaxed, funny and kind, and yes, so cute. He gave me butterflies, the kind that didn’t go away. That afternoon, I wanted to be near him, to feel seen by him, like any girl who was hardcore crushing on a guy would. He was outside playing basketball, and I figured, why not put myself right in the middle of it? So I challenged him to try and dunk on me. At first, he laughed uncomfortably and said, “I can’t dunk on you, you’re a girl.” But eventually he went for it, gently of course, and missed, totally not on purpose (or so I like to believe). I teased him endlessly, and to this day he still says he let me have it. That simple moment of playful competition sparked something real. From that day on, we talked more, laughed harder, and slowly but surely became best friends. And then, on September 6, 2019, less than a year later, best friends became sweethearts. The years since have been a beautiful journey. We’ve grown up together, through long-distance love during Covid, through graduations, late-night phone calls, road trips, family visits, and all the little moments in between. We’ve loved each other through seasons of change, challenge, and growth. And through it all, he’s remained my calm, my comfort, my greatest joy in life. Now, six years later, we’re stepping into forever. I still look at him and feel the butterflies. I still see the boy who smiled at me on the stairs, but now I also see the man I’ll grow old with. Christopher, you are and always will be the love of my life. I’m so proud of the story we’ve written and I can’t wait to begin the next chapter as your wife. With all my love, Kpanah <3 #ReadyToBeAReedy #HTTReedys ;)
