We met in 2010 when I (Kristen) moved back to Massachusetts for Graduate School. My best friend Lily was working at Scampo, a restaurant at the Liberty Hotel. I would wait for Lily at Alibi (the bar at the Liberty Hotel), where Chris was working security. Lily was usually running late, of course, and so Chris would keep me company. Chris had a lot of patience, because we dated off and on over the course of 5 years. In 2015 we ran into each other again, shockingly at Alibi. We chatted for over an hour and then when I left Chris had what he refers to as his Rom-Com moment and chased me out of the bar, and he told me he didn't want to be my friend but that he wanted to date me. But of course after that he did the typical guy thing and waited 3 days to call me. :) Once he called we set up a date for 2 weeks later, because as we all know my schedule is usually pretty busy. Two weeks later we went out on our date in Salem, MA and have been inseparable ever since.
This past May we were invited to the Bahamas One and Only Resort for Chris's Company's Presidents Club. Chris patiently waited for our hotel room to be ready for check in and left our bags with the front desk. Unfortunately it took 4 hours to get our room. Little did I know that he was hoping to check in immediately so that he could propose. While Chris was constantly checking on the room. I was leisurely chatting with his co-workers, enjoying cocktails on the beach, and enjoying a little sunshine. When we finally checked into our room we started getting ready for the company welcome dinner. As I was getting ready Chris said to me "So you know how you were complimenting Tanya's ring" (Tanya was one of Chris's co-worker's fiancé). I said "yes" and continued to get ready. Chris replied "I think you should have a ring of your own." So now I'm thinking great, he needs me to go shopping in order to pick out a ring. When all of a sudden I saw him from the corner of my eye, drop to one knee. He held out a ring and said "we're at the One and Only and you're my one and only will you marry me?" I was so surprised I yelled "shut up!" And then immediately followed that with "of course!" I have to say I didn't think Chris was going to be able to pull off the surprise but he did it!
