We met at Youngstown State University in 2013; Michael was a Senior in college, and I was a Freshman. Michael was a brother of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity, and I had just recently joined Delta Zeta sorority. Michael was great friends with a few of my sorority sisters, so naturally, we were always around each other. Things started to takeoff when we were at a bonfire at the Alpha Phi Delta house, and Michael showed interest during a game of classic beer pong. We went out a few times together, and 8 years later, here we are! Most people that know our story might say that they never thought we would be where we are, today. To them, we say, just keep choosing each other; as long as you continue to choose each other through the hardest of times, love will always win.
A night filled with surprises! I never thought when I was planning Michael's surprise 30th birthday party, that I was actually planning our engagement party! After months of planning a birthday party for Michael surrounded by our closest family and friends, and thinking I was pulling off the ultimate surprise, he had a trick up his sleeve, too. The party was held at the MVR in Youngstown, OH. We had about 50 guests (pre-COVID), great food, drinks, and even more fun! When Michael arrived, he was surprised to see everyone there, as he had thought we were just going to dinner with my parents and his parents. Knowing he was going to propose that night, he said things became much more interesting as he was going to do it in front of a much larger crowd. Nonetheless, he stood up to thank everyone for being there tonight to celebrate; he said that he loved spending our birthdays together and that he could not wait to spend all of our birthdays together. He got down on one knee, popped the question, and I said YES! We went on to celebrate with our family and friends that night, and continue to reminisce on one of the best days of our lives!
