We reflect on our love and how it’s grown in 20 years. We met around November or December 2002 through mutual friends at a church in Atlanta. Koyin was 19 and Fred 23; we became friends instantly…Was it love at first sight (IDK🤷🏽‍♀️). But it was most definitely great friends at first sight. We would talk for hours and hours over the phone and in person. We looked for each other at every church event, but with church rules, we couldn’t officially date until Koyin got baptized. Once Koyin got baptized, Fred was first in line to ask her out on a date. The first date was at an incredible Thai restaurant in Decatur, GA. Koyin loves Thai food!! After the date, Fred knew he had found his forever girl, and Koyin knew she had found her forever love. After our first date, Fred locked it in by asking Koyin to be his girlfriend. About 6 months later, Fred and Koyin decided to get married. 2 kids getting married not having a slight idea what they were getting themselves into. Of course our families disapproved but there was no turning back. We knew we had to put our grown up pants on and make our relationship work. It was hard but we were determined. We embarked on a journey of self-discovery and growth. We went through a lot of ups and downs but we kept God at the center of our relationship and He helped us overcome a lot and kept us smiling every step of the way. He blessed us with 3 amazing children. What started as a great friendship had grown into what we now know as an unbreakable love and an incredible bond. We are so excited to celebrate our 20 year vow renewal in front of family and friends. We celebrate God’s love that saw us through 20 years and we look forward to many more years in love, good health and prosperity.
