It started with one college intramural basketball game and he had my attention. As I was sitting on the bleachers, sipping my bubble tea, Andy came up to "tie his shoe" and asked me this golden question, proving to me that I have, in fact, caught his eye before :) After a few weeks of pickup basketball games and Fall activities with mutual friends, I knew I had a crush and had to do something about it. Every college student hangs out with friends at a coffee shop, so I decided to casually ask Andy to grab coffee with me one day, and he couldn't respond with a more eager, "YES, I'd love to" XD We talked for two hours while sipping our Americanos, sharing our favorite drawings and art we have made, and admired each other's love for our families. God knew what He was doing when He brought us together. Since the Fall of 2018, Andy and I have graduated from GMU with Bachelor of Fine Art Degrees, watched all the Star Wars movies, started pursuing our career goals, and decided that there is no one else that we would spend the rest of our lives with.
After a fun Senior Year Spring Break trip to Houston, Andy took me on a date to Old Town Alexandria for a paint date by the water. The world just passed the brink of shutting down because of the pandemic, so he quickly bought all the supplies we needed before picking me up. When we got there, he left it up to me to choose what we should paint—hoping it would be something quick and relatively simple, since his nerves were already making his hands shake! I decided we should paint each other's portraits. He smiled through the suspense XD after an hour of brushing the canvases with the various colors, us artists finished and laughed at our final product. Andy suggested we drop off our supplies at the car and come back to the waterfront for some dessert. Little did I know that his plan was to propose to me right in the place that we've shared so many conversations and ice cream cones. He gently stopped me, turned, and got down on one knee and proposed. I squealed and laughed like a little girl and said, "YES!" My sister, Reniah, and my friends Julia and Colleen quickly ran out from their hiding spots to take videos and pictures. We all celebrated by singing Hannah Montana's "He Could Be the One" on the way home where we shared the exciting news with all of our family and friends <3
