The beginning of our story is pretty simple – a dating app. We both swiped right and tried to impress each other with our witty banter and large vocabulary (Rachel had to get the attention of the Princeton student somehow). After two months of messaging and thesaurus searches, we finally went on our first date where we took a very romantic stroll through the aisles of Walmart. For context, it was the height of Covid and nothing else was open. After a few more visits to Walmart and one lucky date to Olive Garden, we officially started dating on October 18th, 2020. This began our 2.5-year long-distance relationship with Andrew in Princeton and Rachel in Chapel Hill. Through a combination of Facetime calls, flights, and stubbornness, we navigated long-distance. Admittedly we experienced some bumps along the way but they only made us stronger. After his graduation, Andrew moved to Washington, D.C. for work. Rachel joined him the following year, at last ending the long distance journey. However, we were faced with the new challenge of actually living in the same city for the first time ever. We knew it would bring us closer, but the speed at which our relationship deepened surprised us both - and the surprises didn’t end there. As we started talking about engagement this past year, Andrew kept a straight face (or a poker face if you will), making Rachel believe it wasn’t happening anytime soon. So, when Andrew got down on one knee at the Philadelphia Art Museum on May 26th, 2024, Rachel was completely taken by surprise – the happiest surprise of her life. If you are wondering if she said yes, hopefully this website gives it away. And so, that brings us to today where we invite you to celebrate the beginning of our lives together on June 20th, 2025. And while you're here, you could even pay a visit to the Walmart parking lot where this all started.
