I was new the DFW area and only knew a handful of people. I decided the best way to meet people would be to explore the dating app called Bumble. I had traversed the app before, and decided the best way to meet anyone would be to just schedule a meet up and see where things would go. After about two weeks worth of swiping left, I came across James's profile and smiled at his confidence. On October 28, 2018 we met each other for the first time at the Brickhouse in Grapevine for brunch. He had a fresh hair cut, and was wearing his "cowboy" getup (pearl snap button down, blue jeans, and real cowboy boots)! Growing up in the suburbs this was not a usual sight for me, and I fell for it the moment I saw it. If you know James, he is by no means shy or quiet. He is extremely friendly, outgoing, and quite honestly chatty. However, the first time we met he was reserved, quiet, and seemed a little nervous. We got along well, and I was enjoying my time with him and trying to get him to laugh. When he asked what I was doing later that day, I replied with nothing, since I did not know many people in the area. He invited me, in what I believe to be pity although I am sure he would disagree, to hang out with him and to meet his friends. He was surprised that I said yes, and jokingly asked if he was an axe murder or not, before I got in his pickup. (Luckily he was not, and it worked out in my favor). I hung out with him and his friends until about 11 p.m. that night, and since then the rest is history. Two years later, we have moved in together and started to plan our life with one another. Little to my knowledge James had been walking around with my dream engagement ring for two weeks, before he proposed on December 12, 2020, under the guise that we were taking Christmas photos for our parents. While we were taking photos he got down on one knee and asked for my hand. We are so excited to celebrate our big day with all of you!
