Question

Do I have to stay at the same resort?

Answer

Kory and Paige have reserved a room block at Dreams Onyx. The resort has many rooms available but only for a limited time. We are asking our guests to stay at our resort and book their stay through our room block. This resort is VERY popular so they have sold out frequently in the past. Our Travel agent Mary Ann has provided an easy process in reserving your room. The prices reflected for our rooms are currently not available through Dreams Onyx at this time. The only way to lock in your rate and guarantee you receive a room is to book through our travel agent. Question

How long do I have to stay for?

Answer

Kory and Paige will be staying at the resort on April 8th- April 15th. There is a 4 day minimum required stay for our blocked rooms. Kory and I would like our guests to be mindful of booking an arrival of Thursday the 10th. If for any reason your flight is delayed or cancelled, there is a possibility that you could miss the wedding event on Friday the 11th. Most guests are booking the 8th or the 9th arrival.

Question

What is the difference between preferred or not?

Answer

There are many rooms on the website that are preferred rooms. Preferred rooms are available to anyone who chooses to book the preferred room. The preferred rooms include: a private check in process updated room amenities (stocked mini fridge with candy, drinks, and alcohol as well as upgraded bathroom amenities) private preferred guests only bar (top shelf liquor) private preferred guest only pool private preferred guest only beach (this includes shaded loungers and a waiter to bring you drinks and food whenever you want) private preferred guest only restaurant open for breakfast and lunch (not buffet style and many food options available) Private concierge that is at your disposal for questions and help. For example, the concierge we had at Dreams last year would text me everyday the itinerary for both Dreams resort and Breathless, the menu items that were specials in all the restaurants, he helped us book a private hibachi dinner , and I wanted a steamer instead of an iron and he brought that to my room within 5 minutes of asking. He also would leave surprises in our room! (chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, flowers) just because he wanted Kory and I to enjoy celebrating our anniversary! We want everyone to have the best vacation and when you choose preferred you get treated like royalty! If you are not interested in booking and paying the difference for a preferred room and the junior club suite pool view is no longer available please contact Mary Ann and ask to book one of those rooms.

Question

What kind of rooms are available?

Answer

We have booked: -Junior Suite garden view room: This room overlooks the garden and is the only option of non-preferred rooms available. This can be a king size bed or two double beds. -Preferred Club Junior Suite Pool View: This room is the cheapest option for preferred club rooms. You get all preferred amenities plus your balcony is overlooking the pool. This can also be a king sized bed or two double beds. -Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View: This room is a little more than the pool view because it gives a beautiful view of the ocean from your balcony. Plus you get all the preferred amenities. This room can also be one king sized bed or two double beds. -Preferred Club Junior Swim Up: This is the room Kory and Paige have booked. It includes all the preferred club amenities plus off your patio is a semi-private pool that only other swim up rooms have access to. Typically this is 4 rooms to one pool. This can be reserved as one king size bed or two double beds. -Two bedroom Family Suite: This is the most expensive room in the entire resort. It includes all of the preferred amenities. This room on one end has a king sized bed with a private bathroom. It has a living/dining room in the center with a coffee bar. The living room couch can be made into another two double beds which would fit multiple people or kids. The living room also includes another private bathroom. The second bedroom includes two double beds with another private bathroom. This room has a maximum occupancy of 10 people (5 adults and 5 children under 13). This room would be a good option for a group to share and split the cost.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We're asking our guests to wear formal and semi-formal attire. Please be respectful and avoid wearing white, beige, and light (almost white) clothing. Our ceremony will be on the beach and we will have a spot for you to place shoes during this so that you can easily walk in the sand. Our dinner reception and dancing will all be on concrete so we are requesting you wear shoes during this portion. Our wedding colors are black, tropical green (think palm leaves, monstera leaves), and gold.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! The Dominican Republic requires a passport for all travelers. Please be mindful when purchasing (if you do not already have a passport) your passport due to the delay. It typically takes 3-6 months to receive a passport and the children's passports are taking even longer. If you already have a passport, please be mindful of the expiration date. The DR will not allow entry if it is 6 months away from expiration. Most countries are 3 months but the DR functions differently.

Question

Is there anything that is not included at this resort?

Answer

Kory and Paige have toured and hand picked this resort specifically because everything is included. The food, restaurants, entertainment, and alcohol do NOT cost extra. Excursions are the only extra cost (if you choose to attend one). However, please bring American cash to tip the staff. The employees at this resort work very hard and get paid very little. They accept tips and are very grateful. If you choose a preferred club room from our room block it includes everything listed above and more!

Question

Should I bring my children?

Answer

Yes! Your children are invited and encouraged to join. The resort has a water park for 9+ years old with BIG water slides. They have childcare available for children ages 3-12. The childcare center has a splash pad, toys, video games, movies, and the staff are all certified and trained. They also have a teen center (13+) that has fun activities for the older children. The resort also have many children friendly activities at the resort like a game room, ice cream shop, and playground.

Question

What if I don't want my children to come?

Answer

No worries! We understand that adults need a kid free vacation too. There are many places in this resort that are adult only including an adult only pool. This is a luxury resort that is geared to impress adults but includes the children.

Question

Should I bring the bride and groom a gift?

Answer

Kory and Paige are accepting cards, but no gifts please. It will be too difficult to return to the states with multiple gifts.

Question

Whats the timeline for booking our room?

Answer

Kory and Paige have paid to keep the room block open until November 2024. The room you choose will require a downpayment to hold the room for you. This is also where you can purchase your travel insurance. If you purchase travel insurance they split the payment for the room into two parts. The full payment is due in November. This information can all be provided by visiting destinationweddings.com. If you have any additional questions, Mary Ann would be happy to assist in finding answers. Mary Ann Santana Detroit, MI 313-724-6020 msantana@destinationweddings.com

Question

Are flights included in our reservation?

Answer

Unfortunately no. The travel agency can not secure flights with your room reservation because the flights are not available that far out. We recommend to start looking at flights closer to 6-months out. If we wait to book our rooms until flights become available, there may not be any rooms left. The reservation for your room does INCLUDE transportation from the airport to the venue on arrival and departure.

Question

What fun activities are there for the adults?

Answer

So Dreams Onyx has many adult friendly activities for adults. They have many bars, pools, entertainment team, and many fun activities. Next door to Dreams Onyx is Breathless. They are both owned by the same company and you have access to both resorts. Breathless is an adult only resort that stays open later in the evening. They have party's, club like atmospheres, and adult shows. The resort is known for their foam pool party, white beach party, and neon party. So if you would prefer to escape the family atmosphere you have many options. We are also allowed to choose either resort for your meals too. You can visit any restaurant on both sides. Just remember, only 18+ is allowed at Breathless.
