While we were visiting Sean’s uncle in Sweden, we decided to "do as the locals do" and visit a castle in Gothenburg. Unsure of what lay ahead, we packed an overnight bag, a cooler of beer (thanks, Vince!) and borrowed a car. While we were checking in, the receptionist suggested their 3 course dinner. Not knowing where we were, we agreed. It was the middle of the week, so we basically had the place to ourselves, along with a few other couples, but we were, by far, the youngest there. It was a perfect day, not too hot or cold. There was a mini golf course that we decided to tackle. Of course, with one of us having zero experience playing and the other almost semi-pro, we only made it to the third hole. Besides the fact that I suck at golf, the horse flies were eating us alive, so we headed back to our room, cracked open another beer and got ready for our dinner. Sean even had time to shine his shoes. We decided to leave for dinner at 6:15 so we would have time to get a drink and take a picture in front of the fountain, which Sean was very adamant about. There were a few people sitting at the tables surrounding the pond, so I figured we would ask one of them to take our photo, but Sean insisted on finding someone else to take it. I was so confused, we could have asked someone sitting outside...I figured he was worried about the language barrier. 5 minutes go by and I finally see Sean emerge with one of the employees. It's a good thing I'm totally oblivious because the lady that took our photo couldn't have been any more obvious. She had Sean's phone in her hand and told us that she was going to take a few photos, then she was going to take 1 more, with a huge smile. After she took a few, she yelled, ok, go! and at that moment, Sean let go of me. I turned around and found him on his knee with a little blue box! I couldn't tell you exactly what was said, all I know is that at some point, through the tears, he asked me to marry him & I said yes, about 6 times.
