Our Story

Glad I Swiped Right

I wish we had some romantic story about how we met one another, but instead, we have the story of Tinder. We actually joked on our first date that if this ever turned out to be anything serious, we would say we were at a grocery store and we met when we both reached for the same food item (cliche, I know). However, I think our story is pretty neat. We are a success story off of a FREE dating app that most consider a "hook up" app lol. Josh and I casually dated for about 6 months before we decided to go our separate ways. 6 months later, he couldn't help but message me Happy Birthday on Facebook Messenger! We now call this Josh and Kortney 2.0, which seems to be working :) I told Josh about six months before he proposed that when I was younger, I had a vision that my proposal would be during a picnic, while biting into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's a little different, but I didn't think anything like that would actually happen. Around April, we went to the Diamond Cellar to casually look at rings. I narrowed down the rings to three that I liked. Little did I know that the next week Josh would be going back to build the ring, and diamond, that I had always dreamed of. We were going to go to COSI to pick up some tickets and then go out to dinner later that night. When we started walking towards COSI, Josh had us take a slight detour near the river where a picnic basket was awaiting us...To my surprise, earlier that day, Josh had made me a gluten free peanut butter and jelly sandwich and took it to a photographer. That photographer (a friend of ours) placed the picnic basket exactly where he wanted us to be for the perfect shot. After Josh found the basket he handed me a note, got down on a knee, and asked me to marry him....We then celebrated with the peanut butter jelly sandwich while my parents joined us, which was a surprise. We then called his parents who live in Kansas City and told them the great news.
