Below are some details on how we met and the proposal, written by Aubrie. We hope you enjoy! -Alex + Aubrie
We met on the first day of high school. We shared a biology class, but secretly wish it had been chemistry class, for better jokes. Eventually, by fate or by our teachers match-making skills, we were assigned seats beside each other. We instantly hit it off, and became good friends. We spent time together at football games; Alex on the football team, and I a dancer on the sidelines of every game. As our friendship developed, so did our feelings, and we began dating. It was a no-brainer for us, we were meant to be together. We had many discussions about our futures, individually and as a couple. We decided that whatever our futures held, we wanted to face it together. We walked at graduation hand-in-hand, and started working and saving everything we could. We struggled with accepting that if we wanted our "dream" wedding, and a comfortable life after, we would have to take our time saving.
Alex is the king of suprises. He always has a thoughtful plan and believable alibi, and he delivered for the proposal! Fast-forward some time from graduation, to my 22nd birthday. Alex claimed we were going out to dinner to celebrate. "It's a long drive" he said, "a nice place in Walla Walla". I packed a small snack for the drive and got in the car, happy-go-lucky and unsuspecting. "We just need to stop at my house, i forgot something there" Alex lied. Little did I know, Alex could barely hide his nerves, and the little golden ring tucked in his pocket. We arrived at his house, and I innocently noticed all the cars parked outside. "Aw, everyone's here, can I stop in and say hi?". Snack in hand, I reached the front door, and it hit me: this was a suprise party! I (thankfully) put my snacks down, and opened the door. Our parents, siblings, and even my little nieces were there. Everyone sang happy birthday, and looked behind me with wide-eyes as they finished. I turned to see what they were looking at... it was Alex on one knee. A yes, a hug, a kiss, and we were fiances! It was a beautiful day, and a perfectly executed suprise. We hope to make the wedding, and most of all our marriage, full of beautiful memories like this one.
