Question

Excuse me but . . . aren't James and Victoria already married?!

Answer

Yes! We got engaged the week before lock-downs began in 2020, and like many other couples, we tried to figure out the best way to plan a wedding during the pandemic. We originally planned our wedding at the Tidewater for June of 2021, then decided it would be safer to push it back a year. But we didn't want to wait that long to get married, and so we tied the knot in a mini-ceremony. We've never stopped planning our wedding at the Tidewater, and we are more excited than we can say to celebrate our marriage with dinner, dancing, and so many more of the people we love!

Question

What COVID precautions are you taking?

Answer

We ask that all guests be vaccinated against COVID-19. We understand that this won't be possible for everyone, and we will be streaming the ceremony to include anyone unable to attend in person. Since many guests will be traveling from across the country, and internationally, we decided this precaution would help to protect from any potential exposure. We didn't come to this decision lightly, and it comes from a place of love for everyone. The ceremony will be outdoors, weather permitting, but the reception dinner and dancing will be inside. Though guests are welcome to wear masks, we will not require them, pending the local guidelines in June. Please let us know if you have questions at any point. We want everyone to be able to feel as comfortable and celebratory as possible!

Question

Will the ceremony be recorded or streamed?

Answer

Yes and yes! Because we know that not everyone we love will be able to attend, we are planning to live-stream the ceremony on Zoom, and to record it as well. Please let us know in your RSVP comments, or by emailing us, if you'd like us to send you a link to the ceremony stream when we get it set up!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The wedding is cocktail attire. A suit and tie would be appropriate, as would a long dress, cocktail dress, or jumpsuit. (If it helps, the vibe we're going for will be vintage hotel glam, lots of flowers, and some '70s energy!) The average high for June in Easton is 83°, and the low is 64°. Though the ceremony will be outdoors, weather permitting, it will be in a brick courtyard, so no need to worry about shoe choice. The reception will be in an air-conditioned ballroom.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 5pm. Guests are welcome to arrive at 4:45 to get settled in.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Babies and young children are more than welcome to attend. We would love to see them, and to make it more possible for parents to be there. Please let us know in your RSVP comments if you'd like a highchair or kids' meal at the reception.

Question

Do you have hotel recommendations?

Answer

We would love for guests to stay in our block at the Tidewater Inn! Please see the "Travel and Accommodations" tab for more information. There are also a few Airbnbs and bed and breakfasts nearby, as well as hotels farther from the center of town. The weekend of our wedding is the same weekend as an Ironman race in the area, so hotels may be busier than usual.

Question

Who took the portraits of James and Victoria on the website?

Answer

Rachel Larsen Weaver of Brackish Photography! She’s a brilliant, Maryland-based photographer, who will be photographing our wedding as well, primarily in film. You’ll want to be in these pictures!

Question

What about flowers?

Answer

We found our dream wedding florist in Lydia Woolever, the owner of Little Fields floral, a local flower farm on the Eastern Shore. Little Fields grows native wildflowers and other seasonal blooms, and uses sustainable practices in their farming, arranging, and composting (no-till! no floral foam, bleach, or dye!). Coolest of all, they're growing specific flowers for our wedding that Victoria will be able to press or dye with afterwards.

Question

And music?

Answer

We'll have Jason Walsh of Bay Deejays, the experts for our venue, to make sure that our ceremony is audible and the dance-floor is packed!
