March 29, 2024 Santa Monica, California ♥︎ Mary was moving back to NY in a few days, and Jason arrived into LA the night before to help with the move. We started off the day driving through the Mojave desert, and arrived at the Coso Volcanic field where we hiked up a very steep volcano (10/10 would recommend). After driving back to Santa Monica, Jason suggested watching the sunset at the beach prior to walking to dinner at our favorite Pasta bar - Uovo. We had been watching the sunset on the beach a few minutes, when Jason mentioned he had a very important question to ask. As he got down on one knee, Mary thought he was joking around, as he had mentioned weeks earlier he would start to “fake propose” to keep her on her toes. But as Jason pulled the ring box out of his jacket pocket, the world stood still. In that moment, being on a crowded beach started to feel less crowded, as if they were the only two people there. Jason asked, “Will you marry me?” (or something along those lines - Mary was too shocked/excited/overjoyed to comprehend words). Mary said either “yes” or “of course” (again, too shocked/excited/overjoyed for memory to serve us well). After lots of happy tears, smooches, and hugs, Mary turned to her left and saw her brother Tom (the MOST talented photographer) snapping away at his camera. Jason & Tom had been conspiring together the previous few weeks to plan the most incredible surprise proposal, to which Mary was unsuspecting. As anyone does after an incredibly special, life changing moment, they ate the most delicious, authentic pasta (Uovo imports their pasta overnight from their kitchen in Bologna, Italy - yes, it is life changing). We will forever cherish that special day, one filled with volcanos, being proposed to by the love of your life, and pasta. It simply does not get any better than that.

From our first date at Castaways in 2020, to our engagement in Santa Monica in 2024, our journey has been filled with lots of love, laughter and, most importantly, growth. Each & every one of you have played an important role in our lives, in helping shape us as individuals, and getting us to where we are today - individually & in our relationship.
