How We Met

High school sweethearts

I was the equipment manager for the high school football team from 9th-12th grade and Bri was the quarterback/ wide receiver. I had always thought he was cute, but I had only known him as the older rebellious country boy. We had texted a few times but I wasn’t really about it considering I was very reserved back then (lol crazy right). Flashback to a January Friday night my 10th grade year. I thought I was going to a sleepover at my friend Thea’s house with Sammy (key word was THOUGHT). These two had been planning to take me to a party & knew I wouldn’t go unless it was against my will. So, I lie to my parents (sorry mom & dad) about where I’m staying, an older boy (Jordan Pompeii) picks us up at Thea’s house, & then we head to this party in the middle of nowhere. A few hours into this party, I walk into the kitchen & this boy (Brian Kane) picks me up & says “hello beautiful”. He was outgoing, funny, rebellious & extremely cute. But was I interested at this point? Nope. Flash forward to March that same year & all my friends are getting asked to the prom. Shortly after complaining about not going, I get a text from Bri asking if I would want to be his date. I say yes but only AS FRIENDS. And let me tell you, he was the perfect date- handsome & the perfect gentleman. But was I interested? Of course not. Weeks after prom, my friends are literally yelling at me for not wanting to give Bri a chance. So, I finally decided one night at our friend Teage’s camp, that I am going to at least be open to the thought (little did I know I was going to kiss Bri in the front seat of his truck). This was no ordinary kiss people- this was butterflies, an indescribable spark & a couldn’t get enough, KISS. The rest is history. We started dating June 30th, 2012 & have been head over heels in love ever since. From high school, to different colleges, to moving in together in a new state. We have conquered all odds & grew stronger in our relationship because of it.

The Proposal

July 6, 2018

On Friday July 6th 2018, Bri had told me he wanted us to go to dinner before we go celebrate our friends 21st birthday. Of course I fought against this all day, "you hate going out to eat", "my roommates are all at Britt's, why can't we just go there now", "why don't we just get Wendys'". Eventually I had just accepted the fact we were going to dinner, which was fine because we didn't get to really celebrate our 6 year anniversary. I get into the car & ask where we are going and he replies with "i'm not sure yet". We pull into the Lakeview lodge in Treasure Lake where I get out of the car and instantly start to walk up towards poolside (thinking we were just going to get a quick bite to eat). He stops me & says "down here lex!". I was SHOCKED! There was a romantic dinner set up under the gazebo alongside the lake. So I will admit, this was a little suspicious. Bri is a romantic don't get me wrong, but this looked like it should be out of a movie. We ate our dinner and then discussed our plan to head back to Britts house, so at that point I knew for a fact this was JUST dinner. Not to mention our families & friends told us they were all busy (still don't understand how you all pulled that off). As we get up & start walking, Bri said "I have one more surprise for you". I started to get a little shaky, but still in my head I was thinking "no way is this happening, he knows I want my family & friends to see this, there is NO WAY. " We walk a couple hundred yards towards the docks where he dropped down on one knee & asked me to marry him. I was in complete and utter shock already & then I hear a TON of screaming. I look up and see 50 of our closest friends & family cheering and fireworks going off in the sky. Not only did I get the most romantic dinner, the proposal of my dreams & the most beautiful ring.. but also an engagement party at the poolside. July 6th, 2018 was truly the BEST day of my life, it was a fairy tale to say the least.
