The COVID-19 Pandemic was (and still is!) stressful for all of us, so mid-August 2020, Mike decided a little vacation in-state would be nice to take our minds off of things. We had never been to Sanibel Island, Florida before and decided that it was a great place to visit. On Saturday August 29th, 2020, Mike took Monica to watch the sunset on the beach (he had never seen a Florida west coast sunset before!) and with their luck, it was a cloudy evening. After waiting 40 minutes for the clouds to clear up, Monica became a little annoyed and was about to tell Mike that we should go to dinner instead of waiting it out. Before she could say that sentence, she turned around and he held out the ring and asked her to marry him! Her first response? "Is this for real?!" :) - Safe to say, she was no longer annoyed! We celebrated the evening drinking champagne and eating pizza in their hotel room. It was perfect!
