Black Tie Optional

"Black tie optional" means that while a formal event is intended, guests have the flexibility to choose between wearing a full tuxedo (black tie attire) or a more formal suit, allowing for slightly less formality than a strict black tie dress code; essentially, you can dress up in a tuxedo if you want, but a refined dark suit is also acceptable. Women's attire: Women can wear a floor-length gown as with a full black tie event, but a dressier cocktail dress is also appropriate.
