It’s November 2021 and I get a notification from a dating app - a new match! It’s from a “Sarah”, and oddly enough, I recognized her. We had never met, but it was the second time we had matched on a dating app. Sarah says she doesn’t recall the first time we connected, but I couldn’t forget it. I remembered how she smiled big and bright in all of her photos, how she hugged the neck of her sister’s golden retriever as he sat proudly by her side, and how her beautiful green eyes sparkled, wholesome and kind. Some people have a genuine look about them that you just can’t explain... A second match, oh boy! Will it end as quickly as the first, or will I get to meet the mystery girl? My excitement grew and I was eager to ask her out. After a few days of small talk, I went for it, honest and direct… ”Dating apps are the worst, you feel like grabbing a drink this Saturday? If there’s a connection, awesome; if not, at least we won’t match again lol”. Needless to say, it worked :) She agreed to meet and she was just as I had hoped. A gentle soul who was easy to talk to. Thoughtful and funny, beautiful and an engaged conversationalist. We enjoyed each other’s company and neither felt compelled to check our phones or become distracted. I couldn’t wait spend more time with her, should she allow it. Unsure as to whether or not I'd find my person - my Sarah - I'm forever grateful that our paths crossed…twice! Worth the wait. From the beginning, spending time with Sarah has felt natural and easy, like we have known each other all our lives. We both understand that great relationships need nurturing, clear and constant communication, grace, understanding, and plenty of unconditional love. We are ready to do the work because we have found a partner who we want to do the work for. Sarah is the love of my life and my best friend. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our days together, growing as individuals and as partners. We are thankful for our wonderful families and friends. You all have helped mold us into the people we are today. June 7th will be a day of celebration and we can't wait for us all to be together!
